U.K. Home Office sending Darfur survivors to face torture in Khartoum

"According to information gathered from members of the Darfuri community in the UK, dozens of Darfuri Africans have been detained in the past week with a view to deportation."

Another utterly disgraceful, arbitrary and heartless act by the U.K. Home Office. (See earlier examples here and here.) My hope is that, if the deportations do go forward, the public outrage may succeed in changing this policy.

UPDATE: March 30, 2007:
More on the story here. Note the line that says that "the Home Office ... is insisting it is safe to send some Sudanese asylum-seekers back to Khartoum."
